Private Equity Firm

Private equity firm, founded by the originators of a major investment bank’s carbon credit trading desk
Insight: The transition to renewable energy is complex, especially for firms straddling legacy oil and gas assets and emerging clean technologies. This innovative private equity firm, founded by the originators of a major investment bank’s carbon credit trading desk, set out to reshape energy investing by acquiring end-of-life oil and gas infrastructure and transforming it into carbon credit-generating and clean energy-producing assets. Yet the firm needed a clear, cohesive narrative that tied its investment thesis to its portfolio companies—a methane abatement company and a geothermal energy company—while elevating its voice in a noisy sustainability and energy transition space.
Action: We positioned the firm as a pioneer in the “energy evolution,” using a proprietary investment strategy to bridge the gap between traditional energy assets and renewables. To amplify both the firm and its portfolio, we built a multi-layered communications program: We developed a unifying message that the firm is redefining energy investing by creating a sustainability toolkit from legacy assets, transforming methane liabilities and industrial waste heat into verified carbon credits and clean energy sources. For the methane abatement portfolio company, we spotlighted its mission to industrialize well-plugging and methane reduction, including its application of AI for leak detection and its goal to plug 5,000 wells annually. For the geothermal energy company, we emphasized its unique approach to converting waste heat from oil fields into geothermal electricity, highlighting its strategic partnerships with major energy operators. We secured high-impact media coverage that illustrated the connections across the firm’s ecosystem, showcasing how each entity contributed to a broader climate and investment solution. We engaged institutional investors, family offices, and energy partners with stories that demonstrated clear environmental benefits and financial returns.
Impact: The campaign elevated the firm’s profile and boosted visibility for its portfolio companies: Coverage in leading publications such as Fast Company, Reuters, Yahoo Finance, GEO EXPRO, Infralogic, Carbon Herald, and CFO Magazine. Media appearances on influential platforms, including Crossroads (The Infrastructure Podcast) and the S&P ESG Insider Podcast. A consistent stream of media attention that supported the firm’s upcoming $300 million fundraise and enhanced its reputation in the energy transition sector. Recognition of the portfolio companies as essential components of a scalable climate strategy, gaining traction with both investors and the press. Contributed to shaping a broader narrative around the potential of legacy energy infrastructure to serve as a foundation for a clean energy future, with the firm at the forefront.
